Rodney J. Couts, EA (Rod) first began preparing taxes in 1987 and in March 2005 he was admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Agent after passing the highly rigorous enrolled agent exam in September 2004. Enrolled Agents are among a limited group of professionals that are allowed to represent taxpayers before the IRS on a nationwide basis. Enrolled agents are recognized by the IRS as America's tax experts.

Rod is also a nationally known automobile leasing expert, and was recognized by Federal Reserve Board chairman Alan Greenspan for his contributions to the Board's Leasing Education Program team. The team developed the Board's web site content and print materials for educating consumers about automobile leasing.

An accomplished speaker and writer, Rod has appeared on numerous television and radio programs, including CNN's Lou Dobbs Moneyline, Fox on Consumers and Motorweek. His articles on leasing have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, Working Mother and Forbes.

Rod has been teaching other tax professionals since 2011 and has presented classes to the California Society of Tax Consultants (CSTC), California Society of Enrolled Agents (CSEA) and National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP). He is the 2015-2016 president of the North San Diego County Chapter of CSTC, the 2016 1st Vice Vice President of CSTC and was recognized as the CSTC Member of the Year for 2015.

A native of Ohio, Rod received his Bachelor of Science in Business from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio, having majored in accounting. He is also a former Certified Vehicle Leasing Executive (CVLE).
